Top 15 Game Babes

 • Jan. 25th, 2008 at 3:43 PM

I didn't feel like finishing writing my rant/revisit today about Monster Movies and the the 1998 American Godzilla movie. So you're all getting my Top 15 Game Babes. I was actually surprised I had not done one of these yet.

The list is just made up of my all time fav Female characters. I was planing to do a Top 20 but I was running out of time and I was stuck on 19 & 20, so insted of having a top 18 I just cut 3. I will most likely come back and update this to my Top 20 in the near Future.

My Top 15 Game Babes!

Rant: Short games are not worth Full price!

 • Jan. 11th, 2008 at 2:47 PM

Wow its been over a month since I last posted... Sorry about that. You know how it is when the holidays hit, all Hell breaks loose.

Well anyway as I said in my last post I might have a new rant, and low and behold I do.
In early December I finally became a owner of a 60GB PS3. I really wasn't planing on getting one as soon as I did, but thanks to some luck and good timing I was able to get one for I think it was about $160.

Overall I'm pretty Meh on the system, The system is ok. I'm just not really happy with the interface, all they did was use the PSP interface which wasn't that great to start, but it really sucks on the PS3. The controller really sucks, I can't wait for the dualshoock3. Thou I might just do the PS3/Xbox 360 hack, and put the PS3 controller guts in a 360 controller.
To make matters worst the over all game library really sucks. To date I've only played one game that I really loved and made me happy I had a PS3 and That game is Uncharted. But every other game I've played had been so-so or shit. I tried playing Heavenly Sword but I could never get into it, instead I had to watch a friend play it. Sure the graphics were nice and so was the story and voice acting, but for me the game play was just bad. And I really did not like the changes they made compared to what I saw in the early versions. The game was suppose to be set in Asia, but instead it looked like 'Asian appreciation day' in Rome. The characters do not look or sound at all asian. All in all Heavenly sword just feels like they tried to turn it into "Goddess of War".

Anyway this Rant wasn't about how major of a disappointment the PS3 is to me, this rant is about EXTREMELY short games. One thing that has been embedded in my head thanks to the stupid PS3 demo system at GameStop is how Blu-Ray was suppose to give PS3 games so much freaken room to work with that the only question on peoples minds would be how would they get enough time to play these games. Well based on what I've been playing on the system that has to be the BIGGEST BULLSHIT remark. All I've found with the PS3 are games are the shortest on any system. Their best games can be 100% finished in under 7 hours. Sure I love short games, Portals and Halo3 both only took me about 7 hours to finish, But at least I was given reason to go back and keep playing. Halo3 had its online multiplayer and Portals... well its freaken Portals I love the game. But with games like Uncharted and Heavenly Sword once you finished it there is ZERO reason to ever pick it up again. Now in some scence this is a good thing, The game doesn't over stay its welcome and its a game you can finish in a lazy Saturday afternoon. But when I'm dropping $60 on the game I would like something that will last me more then 6-7 hours, Give me a challenge mode, time mode, multiple endings or online play, something! I loved Uncharted but will I ever play it again? Nope, I finished it. 100% done in under 7 hours. I pretty much paid $10 a hour to play the game. And now my only options with it is to a) Sell it back to GameStop or b) let it collect dust on my shelf.

Now I'm not saying Sony should have added a bunch of fluff to the the game to make it over 30 hours long. I don't want that, What I want is the game to be priced correctly. If a game is only going to last me under 10 hours I should only be charged $30 at most for it. Now I don't think all games should be priced based on this total time to be completed, I don't think a 100 hour game should cost me over $100. I just think that a game that can barely tide me over for a weekend shouldn't be charged full price for.

Valve had the right idea when they decided to only charge $20 each for Half Life Episode 1 & 2. The games were short and $20 was well worth that price.

Sadly since games on the PS3 like Uncharted and Heavenly Sword's Budgets are so outrageously high that even at their current price point they can bare break even in sales. So a lower price point is really out of the question for them. Makes me wish that these games were on another system where they could charge less for them.

Metroid METAL!

 • Dec. 6th, 2007 at 4:28 PM

Ya I know I haven't been keeping this up-to-date as much as I would have liked. I just haven't had much to talk about the last couple weeks.
Not a whole lot has been happening in the gaming world, well at least not a whole lot I want to talk about.
Thou I may have a new rant up in a week or two, We'll see what happens.

Enough of that on with the post.

I came across a couple really cool thinks this morning that I just had to share with everyone.

First off someone made a really kick ass 'Metroid' arcade cabinet.

After seeing this It really makes me want to get off my ass and finally build my own arcade cabinet that I've always wanted to make. The question is what would I do for a over all theme for it... hmm.. I'll have to sleep on this one for a few days. I'm torn between Zelda, DoA or maybe a Final Fantasy theme one. I would have done Metroid, but it's now been done. A Zelda one would be really cool, but so would a updated DoA one. I might have to make a couple. =P

Anyway as I continue to dream about building my own arcade system there was something else that was really cool that came out of that video. The music. That had to be one of the coolest versions of the Metroid them that I have ever heard. At the end of the video the have a link to the site from where the music came from. I really recommend checking it out if you liked what you heard in the video.

The guys over at Metroid Metal have done some pretty sweet remakes from Metroid, Metroid 2, Super Metroid and Metroid Prime.

Wii would like you to STOP!

 • Nov. 5th, 2007 at 12:35 AM

First off I would like to apologies for the lack of updates lately, Life has been busy and there really hasn't been a whole lot for me to rant about lately. The gaming industry has been a bit dead. But thanks to the Holiday season upon us new stuff has been showing up.

Before I get onto my rant for today I would like to do a bit of a update on my last post. Last post I said;
"Our focus has moved on to other games and now we all want Orange Box which I have heard lots of good things about. I can't wait to play it."
Well I did get around to buying it and playing it and all I have to say is its fucken GREAT. It's well worth your money, a hell of a whole lot more then Halo3. Not only do you get Half Life 2 and the first 2 chapters to their sequel-esk trilogy. But you get Team Fortress 2 which is just as good as Halo3's online mode. And you get Portals which is to me the biggest highlight to the whole game, Portals is short but is hours of puzzle solving fun. I highly recomend picking up Orange Box if you haven't already.

Okay now onto the rant.

People always bitch about how fanboys never complain about their system, how they are able to easily look past any flaws that the company is doing. Well I'm proud to say that I am one fanboy that doesn't do that. On more then one occasion I have made public my disappointment with Nintendo on several issues. The most recent of that being the choice of the name 'Wii' for their 5th Generation system. I've learned to except the name and since the system has been a runaway sucess I have little reason to complain about it any more. I still think the name was not the greatest, but it seem to have gotten the job done.

Anyway back when Nintendo launched the Wii they set forth a very interesting add campaign.

The 'Wii would like to play' ads were pretty good at first, if really got the publics attention and answered the peoples questions on just what the hell the 'Wii' was. It was a great ad for the launch of the system. And a VAST improvements to the 'Born to Play' ads that launched with the GameCube. But come on Nintendo it has now been over a YEAR and you're the number one system on the market. Isn't it about time to stop using those FUCKEN LAME ads. They were fine for you to start with, not its just looking like your being lazy.
On top of that you wasted two great games that should have had "all the stops pulled out" ads. I'm talking about Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3. Why are you tacking on the stinky lameness of the 'Wii would like to play' on to two games that should have beautiful standalone ads.

The Original Metroid Prime ad was a bit cheesy but it was leaps and bounds better then the awful ad we got for Metroid Prime 3. What the hell does a airport waiting area have to do with Metroid? Even the stupid 'Who are you' ads that were around during Metroid Prime 2 were done well enough that they really captured the feel of Metroid. I remember when the Metroid Prime ad came out, I downloaded it and rewatched in easily dozens of times, with the Wii ad I don't even think I finished it once. I know Nintendo really wants to pull in that non-gamer market. But HELLO Metroid is not a game for non-gamers. Seriously some times I wonder if they really know who they are aiming at.

Nintendo, You really needs to STOP using the 'Wii would like to play' ads. The Message has been sent and received by over 13.5 MILLION people. STOP ALREADY. Don't let another good game be tainted by the stupid ad. You already wasted Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy.
For the love of all that is good DON'T use that ad with Super Smash Bros Melee, Animal Crossing, Disaster: Day of Crisis or Mario Kart. Just STOP! PLEASE!

Here are the Metroid Prime ads. As you can see the Wii ad just doesn't fit.

Original Metroid Prime ad

Metroid Prime 2 ad

Metroid Prime Hunters ad

After the Halo storm

 • Oct. 18th, 2007 at 3:04 PM

It's now been 3 weeks since the release of Halo 3. The killer must own game for the Xbox360, Their AAAA (the extra 'A' is there on purpose.) system seller, the FPS to end all other FPS. 3 weeks ago the video game world stopped and watched as this landmark game launched. Every gamer out there became a Halo fan for that one day in September. But now a mere 3 weeks later and with over 5.14 million copies sold, it seems that the Halo hype has pretty much died out. And it's been 2 weeks since I lasted played it.

It's funny, When the Halo3 count down started everyone suddenly became a Halo fan, I was never big on Halo. I liked the games but I was far more a Marathon fan then a Halo fan. I was planing to pick it up when it came out but I wasn't really excited, but with in the week of its release the Halo bug finally hit me and I suddenly found myself to be a big fan of the series, I had my halo3 t-shirt and I was even eyeing the limited edition Halo3 360 as a replacement for my dead 360. Hell I was even thinking of buying all the accessories that had been released for Halo3 (Thank God I didn't). Halo3 came into the world with a earth shattering Bang but after that it pretty much fizzled out. The game came out we all finished the single player mode in a single afternoon and then played the multiplayer mode just to find out its nothing more then Halo2 with better graphics.

Is it me or did Halo3 turn out to be a MAJOR let down?
First off let me say that I did like the campaign mode. I liked how they nicely wrapped up the whole story, But God damn it should it have been more then 6 or 7 hours long! Seriously for a game that's been in development since early 2005 the campaign mode been at least 12 hours long. I almost feel cheated, It's almost like the campaign mode mode was just an unfinished part of Halo 2. In fact looking back on it one would think they could have just as easily tacked this on to the end of Halo 2. Yes I did like the story and I liked how it all ended and sure everyone says that when you buy Halo you buy it for the Multiplayer mode not the Single player, but for dropping $60 (or for people like me $70 for the collectors edition) on it I would have liked a hell of alot more.

Halo3 is one of those games that I would tell people to just wait till it hits Platinum Hit and pick it up for $30 since thats really how much the Single player mode is worth. But sadly this is Halo and is one of those damn games where if you don't own it your really missing out. If anything I guess I would really have the push the idea of going out and renting it for a week. You'll easily finish the campaign mode on a lazy Saturday afternoon. And then you'll have the rest of the week to grow tired of the multiplayer mode.

Yes thats right I said 'grow tired of the multiplayer mode' unless you get really hooked on it which I have to say I thought I would. The online games getting boring after awhile. The sad truth is that Halo3 adds really next to nothing new that Halo2 didn't already have. If your going to try out Halo3 online I recommend just picking up a 1 month XboxLive subscription if you don't have a Gold Live account already. cause if you turn out to be like me after playing it for a week you just don't feel like going back. When I started playing online I was hooked, after I got out of work I was all excited about going home and playing Online for a couple hours. But as the week progressed I became less and less excited until it got to a point where I was almost forcing myself to play online. It was no longer any fun. So I stopped.

Now this could easily differ for people. Especially if you have a group of friends you can always play with. The most fun I ever had in Halo3 Online was when I was playing with a good team of people who communicated well & knew what the hell they were doing and when I was playing with friends & we were just playing and shooting the shit. Sadly both cases for me were really rare. Finding a good group to play with rarely ever happens, most of the time you get stuck with one smart person and the rest of the team is a bunch of whiney underage brats who shouldn't own a M rated game in the first place.

So in short I highly recommend renting Halo3 first, You can easily finish the campaign mode in a single rent. If the online game in the end turns out to be something you really like then go out and buy a used copy from GameStop (they really seem to be coming in a lot lately.) I would give Halo3 a 7/10, It's a good game and worth buying once it hits Platinum Hit, but unless your a hardcore fan of the series It's just not worth buying at full price.

It's been 2 weeks since I last put the Halo3 disc in my 360 and the only reason it was played recently was because my friend Rob had not finished it yet. So we booted it up played the final level and then put it back into its box.

Halo3 came and left my home. We were all excited about if for the first week but now no one really cares.
Our focus has moved on to other games and now we all want Orange Box which I have heard lots of good things about. I can't wait to play it.

I Love being a Game Developer ^_^

 • Oct. 5th, 2007 at 1:52 PM

Some times its almost hard to believe that I do this for a living.
Last night I was working on some stuff for one of our upcoming games and I needed reference material for jiggling breasts, yes I just said jiggling breasts. Have I mentioned I love my job.
Anyway I really have to thank 4Chan for this, If you are ever in the need for good reference material or need help finding something may I suggest using 4Chan, sure its kind of a sketchy area, to quote Obi Wan "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious."
But they are a helpful group of people, In less then 30min I had all the pics I needed to work off of and almost all of them were not adult rated. I took a screen shot of the replies it the image on the side. Click on it to get the actual size.

So ya for the last couple weeks I've been working on character animations, it's been a lot of fun.
I'm doing all my work using Macromedia Flash MX 2004, Ii don't use it in the sense of actually doing the animation in it. In fact all the animations are still done frame by frame, I could easily have done them in Photoshop. The reason I use Flash is because it gives me a nice crisp and clean vector based image which is easily scalable so I can resize the sprites to any size I need and they will always look really good. Once I've finished the frames I export out each one as a 300dpi PNG files. Hopefully if all goes well doing the sprites this way will allow for nice clean and crisp sprites on both regular and HD TVs.
If anyone is at all interested I did put together a exaple of what I do on my deviantArt account. It can be found Here.

Out side of work I've been only had some free time to play Halo3. I actually loaned my sister my copy of MySims so I could get away from it for awhile and actually put some time into Halo3. I am soooo addicted to it. Seriously I wouldn't take back anything I've said about it. If MySims was still in my house my copy of Halo3 would still be sealed.

As for Halo3, I've been having fun with it. It's better then Halo2. I finished the campaign mode with my buddy Matt, I think it took like 6 hours. Pretty damn short. But as people have said time and time again Halo isn't about the single player mode, its all about Multiplayer. lately I've been winding down each day with a couple hours of Halo3 online. It's a lot of fun, I won't deny that but is it worth the 10's and 9's its been getting. I would have to say no. I would give Halo3 maybe a 8 out of 10. If I didn't have a XboxLive account (which I didn't until Halo3) the offline game is just way to short. I would like to see a Halo Trilogy game released which takes the single player game from all 3 and puts it together on one disc. That would be really cool. But ya I don't think its right that reviewers are giving Halo3 a glowing review even thou part of it was a major disappointment. I will say that I was very happy with the ending, it was a great end to the Halo series. Yes the END, don't hold your breath for a Halo4. It's not going to happen any time soon if at all. Especially now that Bungie has left Microsoft. Man the news of Bungie leaving Microsoft was crazy, I thought it was total BS, hell even now that its official its still hard to believe. I wonder if now that Bungie is on its own again if their going to get the band back together. I can't wait to see what new game comes out of them. Part of me hopes that they can find away to get the Oni series back and finally make Oni 2. Heres wishing everyone at Bungie the best of luck, It's great to have you back.
Now go out there and get all the former members back, they're really not up to anything good anyway.

I <3 MySims

 • Sep. 20th, 2007 at 3:37 PM

I wound up playing MySims last night for Seven and a half hours striate and I loved every min of this game! ^_^
I finally had to stop when 4:00am rolled around. And right now while I'm here writing this all I can think about is how badly I want to get home and start playing it again!

I've never been much of a fan of the other Sims game, In fact I've gone on record saying that the games really suck. So when I went into MySims I was a little worried that it wasn't going to be that great, But none the less I wanted to give it a try. I was interested on how different this game was going to be. Especially when they said this version was being done to appeal to the Japanese audience.

The best way I find to describe MySims is it's like they took the best parts of Animal Crossing and The Sims and put them together into one game.

The game is so addictive and yet so simple.
Unlike other Sims games you actually play the main character. You go around building items for other people in your town and building houses for new people who are moving in. It's all very Animal Crossing like. The better your Town gets the more people move in. Unlike Animal Crossing you really get to interact with the other people in your Town and you can actually "level up" your status with them. So the more you talk with them and the more items you make for them the higher your status goes with them.

You are given a handful of items to customize how your character looks, not as many as other Sims games, but FAR more then what Animal Crossing ever gave you. My only disappointments with it was the fact that I couldn't change my eye color and only girl haircuts had the option for Blue hair.

The most addictive part of the game is the ability to build new houses (or remodel existing ones). It seriously It fucken ROCKS! Me and Rob have been having a blast building houses. The second a new person would come into my town and Rob would run into the living room and we would sit down and make a really cool house for them.

Building Furniture is also pretty damn fun as well and I like how they give you room to customize the look of an item your are building.

I would say my only complaint about it is that there is no multiplayer or online mode.

There are a few other things that it lacks that Animal Crossing has that I would have like to have seen.
- You can't make your own patterns for paint.
- No real time clock, sure the game moves faster but I like Animal Crossings real time more. Not sure about the holidays yet, have to wait and see but since their is no clock in the game I'm willing to bet there isn't.
Thats really about it. Other then that MySims is a GREAT Animal Crossing clone. Infact I'm finding myself enjoying it more then Animal Crossing. And its giving me higher expectations for when Animal Crossing does come out.

I would give this game a 9.0/10.
If you liked Animal Crossing, MySims is a must. =D

A bit of a rant on Square/Sony

 • Sep. 14th, 2007 at 9:15 PM

Ya I haven't had much to talk about the last couple weeks.
Been spending most of my free time working on Gravitronix.

I've been able to squeeze in a few hours of gaming here and there. Been mostly playing XboxLive Arcade games like Puzzle Fighter, Pac-Man CE and hearts. Also tried out Pool Party on the Wii.

I haven't really had any inspirations to write any new editorials on the gaming world. Everything is pretty clear as say right now. Sony is sucking like crazy even their two AAA titles for 2007 turned into duds. MS is ramping up for the Halo 3 release. And Nintendo has been kicking ass and taking names as normal.

I've been getting a bit annoyed with Sony fanboys more then normal. Mainly because they are more then willing to twist the slightest bit of news to make it out to be 10x bigger then it really is or they are distorting the facts in their favor. Like take the fact that Wii and DS sales were down this week in Japan. The Sony fanboys were all up saying that Nintendo is screwed and that the PSP and PS3 will finally become #1 again. It's pretty sad to see them like this. I uses to make fun of them, but now it's just sad and pathetic. The reason behind the drop in sales was because Nintendo was taking some of Japan's stock and moving it to the US. They weren't losing interest their were just less systems available.

Also what's been starting to drive be nuts is all the talk about a Final Fantasy VII remake. Sony fanboys seem to love to twist Square's words around and take any little comment about FFVII and make it out as if Square has confirmed that the remake is going to happen. Seriously people, stop. It's not going to happen this generation or even for the PS3. This is what happen on the PS2 all over again. Did we ever see anything come out of the Final Fantasy Tech demo for the PS2, no we didn't and the same is going to happen with the PS3.
Also if these people were to uses any logic what so ever. (Which I'm starting to think they can't) they would realize that if a remake ever did happen it wouldn't be on the PS3 it would be on the Nintendo DS. Why you might ask. Square is putting a lot of time and money building the 3D engine for the DS. If you have seen the screen shots from Final Fantasy IV remake compared to Final Fantasy III remake you can tell they are improving the engine. The way I see it Square is doing this so they can have the best engine for Final Fantasy VII for the DS. The fact that Square is remaking Final Fantasy III - VI in 3D for the DS is a sure fire sign that Final Fantasy VII is going to go over to the DS. The people on the Playstation have already played Final Fantasy VII in fact they can still play it on the PS3 if they want. But Nintendo owners have not had the chance to play any of the Final Fantasy games since VI so I'm willing to bet that Square is planing to bring Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX over to the DS by the end of the DS life-span.

You have to be pretty blind to not see that Nintendo and Square's relationship is stronger then Square and any other company. Square moved DragonQuest over to Nintendo Only, This is a MAJOR blow to Sony. DragonQuest is 100x more popular in Japan then Final Fantasy. In fact you could almost say that who ever gets DragonQuest will win the console war.

Also take a look at what is happening with Final Fantasy on Nintendo systems. We have Final Fantasy IV-VI being remade in 3D, No small task there unlike the GBA ports. We have the Final Fantasy XII spin-off on the DS which is kind of crazy cause you would think a PS2 game sequel would have stayed on the PS2 or at least gone to the PSP. Their are 2 Crystal Chronicle games coming out very shortly. And from everything we have seen, the Wii version of Crystal Chronicle looks more like a real Final Fantasy game then anything we've seen for Final Fantasy XIII. And last but not least Nintendo is the only one getting an original Final Fantasy Tactics sequel.

On the Playstation side all we have seen has been a ports. We had the 20th Anniversary Edition PSP games of Final Fantasy 1 and 2 which were total jokes. They looked like flash based versions of PSOne ports. They added nothing new to the games and to make it worst they charged people $30 EACH Thats $60 for both games, for $20 (or less on ebay) you could get the GBA or PSOne version which had both games on one disc. I feel sorry for PSP owners who bought them, they were seriously ripped-off. But it seems like PSP owners will buy just about anything since they are so desperate for any good games. Reminds me a lot of the GameGear era.

Next you have the PSP PORT of Final Fantasy Tactics, where all they did was change a cut sceen and took Cloud out and replaced if with the guy from Final Fantasy XII. This was done to give the illusion of a fresh game. Without those two changes the game is 100% identical to the PSOne version. Again what a joke. If you want to play Tactics buy the damn PSOne version its like $15 (or less on ebay) Unlike this version which will cost you $40.

The only thing original the PSP got from Square was Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII which to me was a joke, Sure FFVII fans are going to go nuts for it. But like most of the 'sane' people out the same group who thought Advant Children was pretty weak, we're not going to give a shit the game. The only thing good about Crisis Core is that it will FINALLY End all the Final Fantasy VII crap. I am so fucken sick of Final Fantasy VII that I could careless if I never saw another Final Fantasy VII anything every again. Fuck the only reason I would want to see a remake of FFVII on the PS3 is to fucken shut the mother fucken Final Fantasy VII fanboys up. Final Fantasy VII was NOT that great. I've played all the games FFVII is like the 11th decent game in the series and thats including Mystic Quest and Crystal Chronicle, But excluding the Original GameBoy games.

Then you have Final Fantasy XIII which is so far off that I don't understand why Square even showed anything for it. Actually I know why it was shown off so early. Its cause Sony needed something to make people want a PS3. Anyway ya FFXIII won't even be out till sometime in 2009 and I still question if it will stay PS3 only, in fact I'm almost willing to bet that it will be ported to the Xbox360 and PC cause there is no way Square will make its money back on it with keeping it PS3 only. I bet if Square had not shown off what they did for Final Fantasy XIII they would have moved it over to the Wii or DS. But because they have shown it off they now need to make good on it. But that could still change.

So ya the way I see it Square is moving away from Sony. What has been shown off for the PS3 is about all you'll see, anything else Square makes that will show up on the PS3 will most likely also show up on the Xbox360 too. Don't expect to see anywhere near as many exclusive titles on the PS3. Sony is already losing titles to Nintendo cause the Wii is a MAJOR hit and is cheap to develop for. So unless Sony can find away to turn the PS3 around and actually become at least neck and neck with the Xbox360. Square's days on the PS3 are numbered.

And Square is not about to drop millions on to a port of Final Fantasy VII just to please a small group of loud FFVII fanboys.

Okay that rant went on longer then I thought it would. But ya you understand now.
Sony fanboys stop being retarded! It's not funny anymore it only makes people feel sorry for you cause your so absolutely pathetic. Live in reality and we'll take you more seriously. I understand you like your system. Thats good, but don't bend the truth and make up shit to give yourself a false reality to make you feel better about your system.

I came up with this idea last night while I was working out.

If you haven't followed any video game news then you are most likely not to aware of the whole DVD vs Blu-ray debates. Sony and a few developers say that games can't fit on DVDs anymore whole MS says that DVDs are still fine and that last gen we never saw the full uses of them.

lately we have heard a couple developers say that they are hitting some issues with space with DVDs. Epic came out and said that the PS3 version of Unreal 3 will have more extras cause of the extra space that Blu-ray offers while the PC and most likely the Xbox360 versions will require multiple DVDs.

MS has already sold over 10 million Xbox360s so they are not about to add HD-DVD players to all the new 360s and start shipping HD-DVD games cause that would royally piss off all current 360 owners.

But I think I might have a great idea that would let MS introduce a new HD-DVD 360 and HD-DVD game and at the same time NOT piss off their current user base.

First off we need to understand why games are requiring more and more space. It is not because the games are longer or have more content or have bigger worlds. No the reason games are getting bigger is because of the push to have HD games that can run at 1080p resolutions, The texture and movie files for these kind are HUGE and do require more space. On top of that the games are holding not only the files for 1080i/p TVs but also 720i/p and your standard TV.

So here is my idea.
Strip out all the 1080i/p and 720i/p textures and movies and just have the standard TV on a DVD and then have the 1080i/p and 720i/p on a HD-DVD disc.

HDTV still make up less then 20% of the total TV market, and even fewer of them own a console. A major majority of people who a current gen videogame system don't even own a HDTV so why the hell should be uses up close to half the disc on crap that they won't even see.

Now I bet some of you are think, well what if they buy a HDTV later down the road won't all the DVD based games look like crap. And what about buying the games won't most stores just carry the DVD versions and it would be hard to find the HD-DVD versions?
Not to fear the HD-DVD movie market already figured this one out. If you look at some of the HD-DVD movies that are currently out you'll see something very interesting, most of them come with both the DVD and HD-DVD versions. This is a nice way to get current DVD and non-HD-DVD owner to start buying HD-DVD, they might not own a HD-DVD player or a HDTV right now but they know that they might in the future so they can enjoy the DVD movie and then later when they switch over they already have the HD-DVD version so they don't need to re-buy their movies. MS could do this with Xbox360 games, Just start using double sided disc.

There are two differnt way the hybrid format DVD/HD-DVD disc work
1. The Combo disc is a dual sided disc with one side DVD and the other HD DVD, each of which can have up to two layers and
2. The Twin disc is a single sided disc that can have up to three layers, with up to two layers dedicated to either DVD or HD DVD.

These hybrid discs make retail marketing and shelf space management easier. Another advantage is hardware cross-compatibility. The average consumer doesn't have to worry about whether or not they can play a hybrid DVD disc: any standard home DVD player can access the DVD encoded content and any HD DVD player can access the HD DVD encoded content (or the DVD encoded content, for that matter).

If MS were to start using this they could easily solve the problem with "not have enough space" for High Def games.

As for playing the games, MS can introduce a Xbox360 model with a built in HD-DVD player and they can also make it so people who own the HD-DVD player add-on can play the HD-DVD game with it.

So there you have it, my idea on how MS could easily add HD-DVD support to the Xbox360. It kind of surprises me that MS has not thought about something like this already =/

This is also a route that Sony should have gone, have a cheap DVD based PS3 that plays DVD versions of their games and then have the Blu-Ray model. But then again their is no such thing as a hybrid Blu-Ray disc.
